Raising horses has been a Bohlman Family
Tradition for over 100 years.
The Bohlman Family has been raising working horses
for over 100 years . We at Bohlman Quarter Horses have been raising Registered
Quarter Horses for over 30 years. We began with a few mares and hauled
them to other peoples stallions. I acquired a great mare named Honeymoon
Mod by Hollywood Wilma by Hollywood Gold. She was bred to Top Fugitive
by Top Deck resulting in an outstanding mare named Toppers Gold Deck. She
was later bred four times to Peppy A Poco an own son of Mr. San Peppy.
This resulted in a Buckskin Stallion named Hollywood Monty which we used
for a stallion for quite a few years. I also won many High Point horse
show awards with him. In MQHA he was hi-point amateur stallion for the
year and second place open stallion. He won many AQHA classes in Trail
(Open & Amateur). The Hollywood Monty line still runs strong in our
program. We have one daughter left and one stallion is a grandson of his.
This crossing of Honeymoon Mod and Peppy A Poco also resulted in Peppy’s
Honeymoon a Grulla mare owned by the Shea Family at Eureka, MT. Their daughter
Meaghan has won AQHA points, NRHA year end awards and 4-H competitions
on her. She has one foal by World Champion Lean With Me. We also ended
up with our Grulla mare Peppy’s Orphan Anne which we unfortunately had
to raise as an orphan. She has been a great broodmare for us. In 1988 we
purchased SR Doctor Tari an own son of NCHA Non Pro Futurity Champion Doc
Tari. Doc Tari has sired over 200 AQHA point earners and many World Champions.
He is still ranked as a leading cutting horse sire & grandsire. He
also is ranked as a leading sire and grandsire in reining & working
cow horse. SR Doctor Tari’s dam is an own daughter of Sugar Bars. According
to Legends Sugar Bars is considered the most versatile and influential
sire in the history of the Quarter Horse Breed. SR Doctor Tari has been
and continues to be a tremendous sire for us. We have kept a Buckskin/Dun
son of SR Doctor Tari’s named Rock On Tari. We raised Rocky as an orphan.
Rocky is out of a daughter of Hollywood Monty. As a three year old Rocky
stands 15.2 hands tall and appears to be still growing. His first foal
crop was awesome. In 1996 we purchased a mare named Chex N April an own
daughter of leading cutting horse, barrel racing, rope horse sire Doc O
Dynamite by Doc O Lena and her dam was a working cow horse champion by
Bueno Chex. She was in foal to Paddy’s Irish Whiskey an own son of Peppy
San Badger and out of Doc’s Starlight ( considered the greatest mare ever
by Doc Bar). In April of 1997 she delivered Ed’s Little Whiskey a beautiful
stud colt. We had our fist foals by Whiskey in 2000. Whiskey now stands
15.2 hands tall and still growing. Whiskey's four foals which sold in the
First Annual Montana Ranchers and Breeders Sale were the four high
selling foals. The foal tieing for the third high selling foals was
sired by Rock On Tari.
